Polyurethane Amines Catalysts
Uses and Properties
Amines catalysts are amines of relatively low molecular weight (compared to other raw materials used for producing polyurethane polymers), some of which are also hydroxyl-containing. These catalysts are available either as pure compounds, as blends with other catalysts, as dilutions with solvents (e.g. glycol, water, etc.), or partially or completely neutralised with organic acid. Amines catalysts are used for producing polyurethane polymers, including flexible slabstock, high-resilience moulded, semi-flexible, integral skin, rigid moulded, rigid spray, packaging and one-component urethane foam systems. Applications also include solid and microcellular elastomer systems, coatings and sealants. In addition, amines are also used for closely related polyurethane reactions: biuret and allophanate reactions/trimerisation and polyurea forming.
The Polyurethane Amines Catalysts sector group (PURAMCAT) is a trade association bringing together the European manufacturers of polyurethane amines catalysts.
