MMA strategic internal workshop 

Cefic’s Methacrylate Sector Group (MSG) is engaging again in autumn with the European Commission to see which options remain to avoid a classification of Methyl methacrylate (MMA) as respiratory sensitizer category 1. The aim is to convince the authorities to redo a thorough and independent review of the case even if this is an uphill battle. Cefic had organized two internal strategic workshops with MSG earlier this year to focus on the case. The classification of MMA had been proposed by ECHA’s Risk assessment committee (RAC) in two calls in October 2020 and March 2021. The original proposal was made by France on 26 February 2019.
