EEPC webinar: "turnarounds in pandemic times"

In January, the European Ethylene Producers Committee (EEPC) organised webinars on how to carry out turnarounds during a pandemic. Around 120 persons participated in the webinars, which aimed at sharing knowledge, experience and the good practices collected by the members of the EEPC Turnaround Issue Group (TAR IG).

Organising a turnaround requires a high concentration of workers. Therefore, additional risk mitigation measures are necessary to prevent the spread of a virus such as the Covid-19.  Kris Bakelants, BASF, and Werner Van Acker, Evonik, Chair and Vice-Chair of the TAR IG explained that six defense layers should be considered to protect workers’ health: the organisation and infrastructure, the Personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as the communication, execution and crisis management.
