In April, the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU hosted a value-chain conference for oil-based industries in Sofia, which took place back-to-back with the EU Council meeting of European Economics Ministers so that the conference room was crowded with high-level representatives from all EU Institutions.

Dorothee Arns participated in a panel discussion on value chains and how a cross-sectoral cooperation can facilitate a low-carbon future. The panel featured the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Energy, the principal adviser to the EU´s DG Energy and the Directors Generals of FuelsEurope, ACEA, the European automotive association and the shipping owners´ association.

During the discussion, the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Energy praised the contributions of overall European value chains and especially of the industries present to enabling low-carbon technologies. The Bulgarian government will continue to support the industry even beyond the official end of their EU-Presidency.
