As of 4 May, Frans Stokman will take over the position of Executive Director of Petrochemicals Europe. Frans has extensive experience in the oil and petrochemical industry. He has worked for over 15 years for Shell, from which he will resign before joining Cefic as a full employee.

Throughout his career, he has held a broad range of senior management roles including Global Marketing & Sales Manager (Process Oils, Base Oils & Waxes) in London and La Hague, Director of Shell Lubricants Supply Co., Governor of the Sales & Purchasing Agreement (SPA) on the JV between Shell Global Lubricants and Qatar Petroleum (QP) etc. He has global experience in the fields of chemicals, lubricants, base oils, gas etc. and has worked in several locations around the globe including Doha, Hong-Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

He is particularly experienced in helping company or business overcome a crisis. His last position within Shell was Policy & Commercial Manager, Earthquake Damages. In 2019 when the Dutch province of Groningen was hit by an earthquake due to gas drilling in the area, he coordinated and executed the payment of damage claims, established public policies and protocols and acted as the company’s spokesperson in the media in order to restore the company’s reputation.
