Why do lower crude oil prices not make the petrochemical industry relax?
Petrochemicals Europe adopted in May 2016 a position on whether or not the temporary decrease of crude oil and naphta prices is beneficial for the European petrochemical industry. The paper indicates that, although this fall is a welcome temporary relief, the structural issues facing the European petrochemical industry (high feedstock and energy costs) have not changed. Political action is needed to ensure access to energy and feedstock at globally competitive prices.
